About:
This Girl Reads is an after school enrichment program, which encourages fourth and fifth grade girls to read chapter books. Each book selected will consist of a girl as the central character. The books will focus on self-esteem, goal-setting, friendship, integrity, and determination. Girls will meet weekly from 3:15-4:30 to discuss the assigned chapters, complete lessons and activities and enjoy snacks with other girls.

Our Mission:
The mission of This Girl Reads is to encourage girls to read, build their character, and serve the community.

Our Vision:
The vision of This Girl Reads is to ensure that every girl enrolled is reading on grade level; exhibits and applies good character; and finds joy in serving her community.


Goals:
expose girls to chapter books in which they can relate
create an atmosphere where girls possess a love for reading
ensure growth in the areas of fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
build girls’ self-esteem, character, and confidence in reading

Community Service:
A component of This Girl Reads is community service. The goal is to participate in at least 4 community service projects a school year. More details about opportunities to serve our community will be provided soon.
